Now that we’re only a few months away from the summer, there’s a debate raging about which shirt designs will be popular this season.
2019 is, in many ways, a continuation of the previous two years, with political uncertainty and the environment dominating the headlines. It should come as no surprise, therefore, that shirt designs are overwhelmingly reflecting current trends, and a good bellwether of what’s topical and what’s not.
In this article, we’re going to take a look at the most popular shirt designs in Los Angeles for the coming season.
Veganism T-Shirts
Just a few years ago, veganism was a fringe movement. The vast majority of vegans in 2010 were ethical vegans – people who abstained from consuming animal products because they believe that it is wrong. But with growing wellness trends and an increasing acceptance among the public that plant-based diets are healthier than diets full of meat and eggs, the popularity of veganism has exploded.
Right now, there’s something of a war being waged between vegans and non-vegans, and that’s reflected in t-shirt design. Vegans are wearing shirts which offer hard-hitting and humorous messages to the people around them, while non-vegans wear t-shirts that offer direct rebellion against the current trend.
Political T-Shirts
It’s been a tumultuous few years in politics in both the US and in Europe, and so we’re likely to see a range of politically-themed t-shirt arriving this summer. People will use political t-shirts to make witty jokes, engage in satire, and make political points to people of a different political persuasion.
Cannabis-Themed T-Shirts
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last couple of years, you will have noticed that the cannabis legalization movement has been gaining significant traction. Many states now allow dispensaries to operate and provide cannabis-derived products to their local communities.
For many people, however, the current rules don’t go far enough. We are, therefore, likely to see many people wearing cannabis legalization t-shirts in support of the current movement that is helping to see this drug as something beneficial.
LGBT T-Shirts
Los Angeles is home to a large and thriving LGBT community. 2019 promises to be a year in which people of all persuasions and sexual orientations feel more comfortable sharing their identities with others. The number of LGBT-theme t-shirts on the street will no doubt go up once more this summer, boosting the movement’s confidence.
War-Related T-Shirts
With president Donald Trump in office and Putin flexing his muscles overseas, some people believe that we might be on the cusp of war in 2019.
Before president Trump won the election, his adversaries claimed that he could not be trusted with the nuclear codes. They called him trigger-happy and suggested that he could engage in an all-out nuclear strike on America’s enemies. Fortunately, that hasn’t come to pass, but we’re likely to see t-shirts this summer which encourage people to pursue peaceful ways to resolve conflict.
